Adventure summary
Underground cont.

Our brave adventurers resume their exploration of the temple underground, but soon hear a voice calling them from the entry, strangely it carries through the iron and stone walls to their ears. The visitor is Gustav, a local woodsman, who had just saved them from the certain doom of being sealed up in the tomb by a vengeful humanoid. Gustav offers to join the band, and is welcomed by all.

The group then continue their exploration of the embalming chamber, and further north down a long hallway to a strange iron library, haunted by eerie disembodied groaning sounds. There they discover several iron books, but no enemies are to be found. Further along the corridor they enter a room covered in dust, and find a circular pattern on the floor. examining it to no avail, Darb then bravely steps inside the center and then falls into a trance, and begins floating in mid air. While the others try unsuccessfully to rescue him, he comes into communion with the Iron God, who places a Geas on him in exchange for a boon, which turns out to be a magical weapon.

After his communion ends, darb relates his story to the others, and they decide it is time to head back outside to rest and recover from their earlier wounds.

underground menace

The adventurers continued their exploration of the underground complex journeying through the west door and finding a round room, where they were attacked by undead minions. After a short but pitched battle which left the unclean undead in pieces, the heroes continued on. Investigating a strange fountain which seemed somehow magical they then delved into some storage chambers where they encountered a giant centipede which lunged at them but was quickly silenced.

At the Temple ruins

The adventurers journeyed down into the temple ruins underground and encountered a strange mummified head which warned them not to enter. Disregarding the warning they examined the large chamber and the strange featureless statue which dominated the room. After finding a secret chute inside the statue, our brave halfling Darby entered to see what lie beyond. After a brief exploration of the room beneath Darby retreated to rejoin the others in the entry room.

To the Temple

Our intrepid adventurers, following the map given to them by the townspeople of Scalton, follow the trail into the mountains. After several hours of uneventful hiking, they come across the tracks of several humanoids which were travelling in the same direction towards the temple. As they drew near the mountains the sky grew dark and foreboding with ominous clouds as thunder rumbled overhead. After nightfall they crested a ridge and lightning illuminated the forms of several goblins which were making their way down into the burned out area of the temple ruins. Nerthal the brave Dwarf led the attack on the humanoids, and after a few minutes of bloody battle, our heroes proved themselves victorious over the fell creatures. After the battle our band then made camp under a rocky outcropping where they bound their wounds and built a small fire before resting for the night.
